About the Company
The Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA) is a professional institution focusing on logistics and supply chain management, which was established in 1996.
This is also the first non-profit making organization targeting logistics. Since founding, we put much effort on promoting Modern Logistics, which involves warehousing, freight transportation, inventory management, packaging, order processing, customer service and material handling management.
Moreover, there is more application of information technology in order to increase the efficiency so as to lower the running cost for value added solution services.
HKLA is a member of the Hong Kong Logistics Council, HKSAR Government; European Logistics Assocation and China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing.
Objectives
Its objectives are to provide a forum for local logistics professionals to expand and develop their understanding and skills in the practical implementation of operational and strategic aspects of logistics.
HKLA has participated in all major logistics issues. The Association is currently a member of the Committee on Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, the Economic Bureau of HKSAR and is also a member of the Transport and Physical Distribution Training Board of Vocational Training Council.
HKLA has teamed up with Hong Kong Productivity Council to provide formal professional training (Professional Diploma) for the logistics practitioners in 1998 which was the pioneer at that time. It also has supported the Education and Manpower Bureau’s Springboard projects run under Caritas Adult and Higher Education. In addition, HKLA has organized exchange programme for our China counterparts.
HKLA also cooperate with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to promote Hong Kong logistics service to the world market by organizing seminars and exhibitions.
HKLA is political neutral body which has around 1400 members who are coming from different sectors in logistics such as shipping, freight forwarding, IT, retails. The Association is managed by a Council (all Council members are volunteers).
Hong Kong Logistics Association has received recognition from the international logistics community.
MembershipThe Hong Kong Logistics Association is an Association representing the interests of those engaged in logistics activities. The logistics cluster involves warehousing, freight transportation, physical distribution, procurement, marketing and sales, customer service and materials management that includes service providers as well as users. Membership is open to companies and individuals.
There are qualifications or specific criteria for membership application in the Association. The experience and career of specific applicants will be considered to determine the grade of membership. While employment in the logistics field is not a condition of membership, some connections to or interests in logistics matters is also considered. The Association has a broad cross section of members who are employed or otherwise engaged in very diverse range of positions.
