About the Company
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is the professional body for those engaged in logistics, transport and physical distribution - covering all sectors of the industry; namely, land, sea, air and logistics, for both passengers and freight transportation. It was formed in United Kingdom in 1919 as the Institute of Transport and granted a Royal Charter in 1926. It was renamed as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in 2000. The Singapore Group was formed in 1971. This Group was converted into a Section in 1986 and to National Council in 1991.
Objectives
• To promote, encourage and co-ordinate the study and advancement of the science and art of logistics and transport through the organization and conduct of appropriate activities and services.
• To do research into the best means of developing and improving logistics, transport and physical distribution by every practical means in the best interest of the community.
To educate men and women engaged in logistics, transport or physical distribution, or in any of the many activities connected with the movement of people or goods, so that they may acquire the knowledge they need to obtain the Institutes's qualifications
